The Harvest House
The Harvest House is past the planning stages but is waiting for approval from the Calhoun City Council. This will be a residential facility for people recovering from drugs, alcohol and other hurts and hang-ups. The people living there will be monitored closely. They will be able to live, eat, work, exercise, and attend Celebrate Recovery classes & other Bible classes all under the same roof. They will start a savings account that will help them with deposit and rent when they secure a place to live when they leave.
They will learn how to live with other people in this setting with out the temptation of drinking alcohol or using drugs. They will learn good work habits that will help them secure a job when they leave The Harvest House. Their stay may be up to 18 months. These people are already out of jail or prison and are struggling with old friends and old ways of life when they come here. Hopefully the time spent at The Harvest House will help them become strong and better citizens when the re-enter the community,
The key factor in them being able to overcome the temptations will be in relying on God and the Holy Spirit to strengthen them. Our first and most important priority is to lead them to salvation in Jesus Christ. McLean County Zoning Committee has approved the residential facility at 465 Hwy 136 E; Calhoun, KY but the City at this time still has reservations. We will be able to present this to the Calhoun City Council again in the future.
